Interesting Facts About Roslyn
Historic Roots: Roslyn was initially settled in 1643 and was originally called Hempstead Harbor. The name was changed to Roslyn in 1844 to avoid postal confusion with other Hempsteads on Long Island.
Historic Structures: The village is home to over eighty historic structures within one square mile, many of which date back to before the Civil War. Notable buildings include the Van-Nostrand Starkins house from 1680 and the First Grist Mill from 1738.
